Rev A L Walker (Pioneer)

In the 1950’s a “Gracious Lady” embarked on the shores of Great Britain from the Sunny Climate of Jamaica to find, with her Husband the late Pastor R Walker, a place to settle. She was one without life’s agitation or consistent hassle.

Her ministry of the gospel, took her from Watlington House, then to Abbey Gateway, from Abbey Gateway to Waylen Street, and also Oxford Road— God was her keeper. All praise and honour are given to Him, where the congregation would praise worship and pray and a Sunday School was started.

A woman respected by many In this town of Reading, there are many who could claim they were taught by Mother Walker—A Lady, Teacher, Preacher and Pastor to the title “Minister” of the Church of God World Wide Mission.

Pastor Walker was affectionately known as “Mother” and her favourite Bible verse was, “…And Mary said: “My soul doth magnify the Lord and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour. “ St. Luke 1 v 46 – 47
